What is equity?
Everyone has different needs so they all need appropriate support to achieve equal opportunities.
How can we facilitate equity in our own practice?
Understand our own culture, personal values and biases
Understand the challenges children may face
Partnership with parents
Curriculum is fair
Holistic needs of children are met.
What is integration?
Separate support from their peers in the same environment eg. Sign language for one child.
What is inclusion?
Children should adapt to the learning environment adaptations and support should only benefit the child with SEND.
Examples of integration.
The child having certain resources for just them eg. Chewlery. Different coloured paper for your child extra time for a child.
Examples of inclusion.
Font that is the same for each child
Mandatory lessons until year nine
A recap for everyone
And no nut policy.
