How do IUDs work

A

The IUCD creates an inflammatory response in the endometrium. Copper affects endometrial enzymes and oestrigen uptake thus rendering the endometrium hostile to implantation
Side effects include mennorhagia, dysmennorrhoea, bacterial vaginosis.
