What are the 9 special protected characteristics (just as a refresher, maybe no need to memorise completely)
Ethnicity/race, gender reassignment, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation, sex, age, marriage/civil partnership, pregancny and maternity
What is direct discrimination?
When you yourself are discriminated against for a specific protected characteristic
What is associative discrimination
When you are discriminated against due to association to a particular group
What is perceptive discrimination
Discrimination as ypu are percieved to belong to a protected characteristic
What is indirect discrimination
A rule applied to all but affects one group more than another
What constitutes harrassment
unwanted behaviour linked to a protected characteristic that violates dignity
WHat is victimisation
treating unfairly because they have complained
What is the difference between race and ethnicity
Both difficult to define, self defined, but “race” brings up historically charged connotations
What is racism
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized
Which gender is more likely to die (higher mortality)

How doe health seeking behaviour vary between genders
Women consult doctors more frequently than men, especially for mental health, physical problems. Ideas of stigma, masculinity
