Planets Flashcards
What is Saturn made of?
Lots of different layers of different density hydrogen.
What is Mars’s atmosphere made out of?
Carbon dioxide and nitrogen.
What is Mars’s temperature range?
40 Celsius to - 90 Celsius
What is Jupiter made out of?
90% hydrogen and 10% Helium.
What is the great red spot?
A storm which has raged for 350 years and could swallow 3 Earths.
Which planet is made of hydrogen, helium and has an icy mantle which surrounds a rock core.
Uranus
Which planet has such a thin atmosphere it can’t hold a constant temperature?
Mercury.
What is mercury made out of?
Sodium, Oxygen, Helium, potassium and hydrogen.
Describe Venus’s makeup.
Thick atmosphere made of carbon dioxide. There is extreme global warming due to the vast quantity of greenhouse gas: its 461 celsius.
How was Uranus found?
It is visible but very faint: it was thought to be a slow moving star, discovered in the 1700’s.
How was Neptune discovered?
By the use of mathematics (1800s) Uranus was being affected by its gravity.
Which planet is smaller than Uranus but has a greater mass becuase its made of hydrogen and helium?
Neptune.
