Midsagittal Plane
A vertical plane that divides the body into left and right halves.
Parasagittal Plane
A vertical plane in the body that divides it into unequal left and right sides.
It’s parallel to the sagittal plane, but it doesn’t necessarily cross the body’s midline.
Frontal (coronal) Plane
A vertical plane that divides the body into anterior (front) and posterior (back) sections.
Transverse Plane
A horizontal plane that divides the body into superior (upper) and inferior (lower) sections.
Essentially acting as a cross-section, and is perpendicular to both the sagittal and coronal planes.
