Planes of Movement
A
Anatomical lines through which our body moves in space. Defined in three planes.

Frontal Plane
A
Passes through the body from the left to the right. Divides the body into anterior and posterior parts. E.g. shoulder abduction.

Transverse Plane
A
Passes through the body parallel to the ground. Divides the body into superior and inferior parts. E.g. spinal rotation.

Sagittal Plane
A
Passes through the body”s midline. Divides the body into left and right parts. Forward and backwards movements, e.g. hip flexion.
