What does trophoblast do when the embryo is implanted?
Trophoblast enzymes break down tissue of the endometrium to obtain nutrients for the embryo (not yet attached to the placenta)
What is the outermost embryonic membrane made of?
trophoblast develops an inner layer- together layers develop into the chorion
How is chronic villi developed?
Trophoblast sends out extensions into the endometrium
When is chronic developed?
End of 4th week
What does chronic villi develop?
irregular spaces called lacunae
Where does lacunae form?
Around and between the villi and fills the maternal blood
What does embryonic blood vessels do?
Extend through the connecting stalk, attaching the embryo to the developing placenta
