classification

A

⮚ Acc to degree of attachment
1. placenta accrete vena : placenta villi penetrate the basal membrane only
2. placenta increta : villi penetrate basal membrane and half of myometrium
3. placenta percreta : villi penetrate basal thru the whole thickness of the wall of the uterus even thru the serosa so that if may invade surrounding organ
⮚ Acc to amount of placenta involment
1. focal adherence : single cotyledon
2. partial adherence : several cotyledon
3. total adherence : entire placenta

A

● US examination: lack of the sonolucent area benearth the implantation site
● Color Doppler
● MRI: no plane of cleavage is found between the placenta and the myometrium
