Definition

A
  • is 1 in which an imp diameter is 1cm less than that of the gynecoid pelvis
  • it may be generally contracted in wh pelvis has normal configuration but all measurements r ↓ in proportion

Diagnosis

A

can be diagnosed by
1. pelviometry + VE
● Measure conjugate diagonalis by VE
● Palpate sacral curvature + length, sacrococcygeal junction + mobility, thickness n prominence of ischial spine
● Subpubic angle is estimated ( N ≥ 90º )
● Inter-tuberous diameter ( N = width of fist )
2. X-ray pelvimetry

  1. 4 basic types
    ● Gynecoid
    ● Android
    ● Anthrapoid
    ● Platypelloid – simplex, ricketicus
  2. acc º of narrowing ( conjugate vera / CV / true conjugate )
    ● 1st º - 9.5 – 11cm
    ● 2nd º - 7.5 – 9.5cm
    ● 3rd º - 7.5 – 6.5cm
    ● 4th º - < 6.5cm

  • contracted pelvis r clinically deformed eg absence of sacral ala, sacral shortening on 1 side
  • contracted pelvis r associated w
    ● bone disease eg TB, OM
    ● trauma
    ● nutritional deficiency eg osteomalacia, Rickets
