Pitot Static System Flashcards
Are the pilot and copilot pitot static systems combined or independent?
Independent.
Are there any considerations when using the pilots alternate static air source?
The pilot’s airspeed, altitude and vertical speed indications will increase when the alternate static air source is activated.
Think (70-7 rule)
Altitude will increase without a climb by about 70 feet
airspeed will increase by about 7 knots without a power increase
What are the 6 components of the Pitot and Static System?
- Pitot Masts
- Air Data Computers
- Static Ports
- Alt. Static Air Source
- Drain Lines
- Air Temperature Probe
- When would you use the alternate static air source and what instruments does it affect?
An alternate static source is provided in the MC12 aircraft to provide a static pressure should the primary static source become blocked.
The pilots’ airspeed, altitude and vertical speed indications will change when the alternate static air source is activated.
- Where does the alternate static system receive its information from?
The Alternate static air source is provided to the pilot’s air source valve and located in the aft side of the rear pressure bulkhead.
