What symptoms may indicate pilot incapacitation?

A
  • The absence of standard callouts at the appropriate time may indicate incapacitation of one flight crew member
  • If one flight crewmember does not feel well, the flight crew must inform the other flight crew member.
  • Incoherent speech, a pale and(or) fixed facial expression, or irregular breathing, may indicate the beginning of incapacitation.

First actions after pilot incapacitation:

  • Take over and ensure a safe flight path:
  • Announce ″I have control″
  • If the incapacitated flight crewmember causes interference with the handling of the aircraft, press the sidestick pb for 40 seconds
  • Use maximum AUTOMATION
  • Perform callouts (challenge and response included) and checklists aloud.
