Physics Flashcards
What is a system
It is a single object or a group of objects that your interested in
What happens when a system changes
It’s energy is transferred. Some energy is dissipated and some stored in less useful ways
How can energy be transferred
By heating, by forces doing work and by electrical equipment
What is the equation for work done
Work done = force * distance moved
What is the equation for power
Power = work done / time taken
What does a free body force diagram show
It shows all of the forces acting on an object
What happens when an object is at an equilibrium
This means the forces are balanced
What is the equation for the moment of a force
Moment of a force = force * distance
What is the equation for charge
Charge = current * time
What are all the symbols needed for a circuit
Look at page 71 in cgp guide
What is the equation for energy transferred
Energy tans ferried = charge moved * volts
What’s the equation for potential difference
Voltage = current * resistance
What happens when the temperature increases in a circuit
The resistance increased
What does an ldr do
It decreases the resistance on a circuit the lighter it gets
What does a thermistor do
The resistance decreases as it gets hotter
What happens if you add 2 resistors in a series circuit
The resistance is the sum of the resistance of the 2 resistors
What happens if you add resistors to parallel circuits
The total resistance becomes less than the smallest resistor
What is the equation for energy
Energy = time * volts * current
What is the equation for power
Power = energy transferred/ time
What is the equation for electrical power
Power = current * potential difference
What are the 3 wikres in a cable
Neutral wire - it’s blue and completes the circuit
Live wire - it’s brown and carries the voltage
Earth wire - green and yellow and it’s for safety
What does earthing and fuses do
Prevents electrical overloading
How is static electricity created
This is when 2 insulating materials are rubbed together, and negatively charged electrons will rub off from one into another.
What are uses of static electricity
Photocopiers, paint sprayers and insecticides
