What are Igneous?
Rocks that formed under very hot conditions within the Earth
What are Metamorphic?
A type of rock formed under intense heat or pressure
What are Sedimentary?
Rocks that are formed through the deposition of sediments, e.g limestone and sandstone
What are Impermeable Rocks?
Rock which does not allow water to pass through it
What are Escarpments?
The bottom of a cliff or a steep slope created by erosion or faulting
What is Scarp?
A cliff or steep slope
What is Chalk?
A sedimentary rock made of calcium carbonate
What is Limestone
An organic, sedimentary rock
What is Clay?
A sedimentary rock
What is Schist?
A rough, coarse metamorphic rock. It has many layers of different minerals
What is Granite?
An igneous rock
What is Abrasion?
When rocks carried by the sea water wear away the landscape
What is Plucking?
A type of glacial erosion that occurs when ice freezes onto the landscape, ripping out rocks when it moves
What is Moraine?
The debris, rocks and materials that a glacier has picked up, transported and then deposited
What is Corrie/Cirques?
A bowl-shaped hollow area formed by glaciation, sometimes containing lakes or tarns
