Physical development definition
Internal and external development of the body and it’s systems including complexity, size and motor skills.
Fine motor skills
Skills associated with small movements, such as cutting or writing - mainly hand related (wrist and fingies)
Gross motor skills
Skills associated with large movements, such as running or riding a bike
Some changes to the body systems
Complexity increase of the brain, changes to sex organ functions (during puberty), decline of body systems (late adulthood), and teeth replacement.
When does rapid growth decline and rise?
Rapid growth is from prenatal to infancy then turns into slow growth until youth to early adult hood.
External physical changes
Height, jaw, facial hair, teeth, breasts/shoulders,
Internal physical changes
Immunity system, heart, brain, sex organs, reproductive system
Primary sex characteristics
Parts of the body that are directly involved in reproduction (genitals)
Secondary sex characteristics
changes that occur to both males & female that are not directly related to reproduction and are not present at birth (hips widen/voice lowers)

Lower voice, shoulders, penis enlarges, ejaculation
List 4 changes females experience during youth/puberty
Hips widen, ovulation, breasts develop, periods
