what is the Halo effect
The theory that physical attractiveness makes us think different of others founded by Dion in 1972.
This can be summed up with what is beautiful is good.
Dion found that physically attractive people are consistently rates kind, strong, sociable and successful compared to unattractive people.
These preconceptions of attractive people lead to us thinking their more attractive so we act more positive towards them.
what is the evaluation for the halo effect
In 2012 Palmer and Peterson found that attractive people were perceived as more knowledgeable on politics when compared to unattractive people the halo effect even continued when participants knew that the attractive people held no knowledge on the topic
What is the Matching Hypothesis
The Matching Hypothesis was proposed in 1966 by Elaine Walster and states that people select partners of similar attractiveness in order to be realistic effectively making a compromise to avoid being rejected
