Brain Scans Flashcards

1
Q

What is FMRI and how does it work

A

Detects blood flow in the brain as more active areas require more blood. Active area can be compared to low activation areas with a lower blood supply.

Q

What is EEG and how does it work

A

EEG is when 22-34 electrodes is placed on the scalp using a cap and conductive gel. The electrodes measure the activity of the cells directly below them. Activity is shown by brain waves. amplitude of the waves shows brain intensity and frequency shows speed of brain activity.
