photosynthesis Flashcards
dark stage
co2 is reduced to form glucoes
energy is required it is provided by the breakdown of atp into adp and a phosphate
nadph provides h protons and 2 electrons for the reduction of co2 to form gluces breaking down into nadph
nadp, adp and a phosphate are recycled back into the light stage
light stage
takes place in grana of the chlorplast
requires light
not controlled by enzymes light absorbed by chlorophyll
electron pathway 1
electrons are passed from the first electron acceptors to other electron acceptors
they lose energy and this energy is used to join adp and a phosphate to form high energy atp and water
cyclic phosphorylation as it travels in a cycle
electrons return to the chlorophyll
electron pathway 2
2 high energy electrons travel from chlorophyll to electron acceptors
do not return to chlorphyll
they lose energy and this is used to form atp
2 electrons are passed to combine with nadp+ to form nadp_
h protons in proton pool are attrcated to nadp- and combine to form nadph
