Photosynthesis Flashcards
What is the equation for photosynthesis?
Carbon dioxide + water = glucose + oxygen
Light
Chlorophyll
Why do plants need photosynthesis?
To get food and use Co2 and water to make the products glucose and oxygen
Structures in the leaf and their role?
Epidermis- protect leaf
Palisade mesophyll- most photosynthesis occurs here
Spongy mesophyll- some photosynthesis occurs here and less chloroplast
Vein- carries water in xylem
Guard cells- increase and decrease in size to control size of the stomata
Stomata- small pores and allows gases to go in and out of the leaf
What effects photosynthesis?
When there is no light
What are chloroplasts?
It’s where photosynthesis takes place in the leaf
What is chlorophyll?
Things in plants that make the leaf green
