Photo Syns. Calvin Cycle Flashcards
Carbon Fixation
Incorporation of CO2 in an organic compound. This method is common in C3 plants.
Step one of Calvin Cycle
CO2 diffuses into stroma from cytosol. Enzyme attaches CO2 to 5 carbon RuBP. 6 carbon molecule unstable and split into 2, 3 carbon molecule; 3-PGA.
Step 2 of Calvin Cycle
Each 3-PGA converted into another 3 carbon molecule, G3P in two steps. First 3-PGA receives a phosphate from ATP and then it receives H+ from NADPH.
Step 3 of Calvin Cycle
One G3P leaves and is later used to make carbs.
Step 4 of Calvin Cycle
Remaing G3P is converted into RuBP by adding a phosphate from ATP.
What is Calvin Cycle
Series of enzyme-assisted chemical reactions that produces a three carbon sugar.
