2
Q

what were the first three epistemogical argumens and what where they variations of

A

1) the motion argument (unmoved mover)
2) the cause argument (uncaused causer)

Q

what was the motion argument (unmoved mover)

A

if something moves, something must of moved to have moved it: things cannot move on their own
therefore they are similar characteristics

“what is potentially x is not actually x yet. the actual x can only be produced by something that is actually x”

Q

what was the cause argument (uncaused causer)

A

every effect has a cause
infinite regress is impossible, therefore there must be a first cause “which we call God”

things cannot make themselves or be their own agents so the original efficient cause is God

Q

what was the necessity argument (contingency)

A

everything is contingent.
to exist something must of created it for example of nothing existed in the world, there would still be nothing today
something must of existed before the world to create it, ie God
