PHEP 13 Flashcards
Why are symbols used in circuit diagrams?
because they can be easily and quickly drawn and they can convey a great deal of information
What is a one-line diagram?
A drawing consisting of one line that shows the route of power between 2 places. It does not show the actual number of wires or phases.
What are the 3 types of circuit diagrams?
One-Line, Schematic & Wiring
What does ASA mean & what is the purpose of it?
‘American Standards Association. - setting a standard for the meaning of circuit diagram symbols
What is a major use of the one-line diagram?
To detail the actual operations of the circuit.
What is a schematic diagram?
A circuit diagram that has more detail than a one-line but is made as simple a possible. It does not show any physical location of the symbols that represent the different parts.
Where is schematic diagrams used mostly?
In design work
A wiring diagram shows?
-All wires
-Where they connect -the routing from place to place
All wiring diagrams are wired as if the wireman was ___________.
facing the equipment
In fig 12 all of the following components are shown on the one-line diagram except? A) B) C) D)
ACB with magnetic trip only
In fig. 12 all of the below statements concerning the control circuit are true except? A) B) C) D)
the PB1 & PB2 switches are of the time delay type
In fig. 12, the purpose of device OL in the one line diagram is to provide overload protection for the? A) B) C) D)
Pump motor
In fig. 12 the following contacts of control switch CSB are closed when the remote control switch is in the NST (normal after start) position? A) B) C) D)
CSB 3&4
In fig. 12 all of the below statements concerning the indicating circuit are true EXCEPT? A) B) C) D)
The red lights are connected in series with operating coil M
In fig 13, the air circuit breakers shown in the one-line diagram is provided with? A) B) C) D)
disconnect couplers
