What causes the phases of the moon, eclipses and tides?
Moon goes around the earth and depending where the sun is the phase of the moon changes.
Tides are caused by the differences in how much the moons gravity pulls on different parts of the Earth.
Eclipse is when the moon’s shadow hits the Earth.

It depends on the sunlit side of the moon that faces the earth.
What do you see in the New Moon, First quarter, full moon, and third quarter of the moon?
New Moon=the side of the moon facing earth is dark.
1st quarter= you can see half of the sunlit side of moon
Full Moon= you can see the entire sunlit side of moon
3rd quarter= you can see half of the moon sunlit side.
Is the near side (facing earth) always the dark side?
No because the moon moves around the earth so it depends.
