Clozapine
A
Atypical antipsychotics
Only used if schizophrenia not controlled with two or more antipsychotics for at least 6-8 weeks
Adverse effects:
- Agranulocytosis, neutropenia(FBC monitoring)
- Reduce seizure threshold( like ciprofloxacin)
- Myocarditis(baseline ECG)
- Increased saliva production

Amiodarone
A
Class 3 antiarrythmic( inhibiting K channel)
Monitoring: TFT,LFT, U&E and CXR at Baseline
TFT and LFT every 6 months
Adverse effects: Thyroid problems (hence TFT) Pulmonary fibrosis(hence CXR) Liver fibrosis (hence LFT) Corneal deposits Peripheral neuropathy Photo sensitivity Slate grey appearance (skin looks grey) Bradycardia Long QT
