PHARMACOLOGICAL EFFECTS - Calcium channel blockers Flashcards
PHARMACOLOGICAL EFFECTS - Calcium channel blockers (1)
Vasodilating effect: improvement of coronary, cerebral, renal blood flow,
↑ microcirculation in the limbs, ↓ preload on the heart.
PHARMACOLOGICAL EFFECTS - Calcium channel blockers (2)
Antihypertensive effect : (reduced heart rate)
PHARMACOLOGICAL EFFECTS - Calcium channel blockers (3)
- Antianginal action: Expansion of coronary vessels → delivery of oxygen to the heart;
- improve subendocardial blood flow, microcirculation and transcapillary metabolism in the heart muscle, collateral blood supply.
PHARMACOLOGICAL EFFECTS - Calcium channel blockers (4)
Antiarrhythmic action: decrease heart rate, ectopic foci in the atria and the velocity of the conduction through the atrioventricular node.
PHARMACOLOGICAL EFFECTS - Calcium channel blockers (5)
Nephroprotective: ↑ intrarenal hemodynamics
↓ renal hypertrophy and proliferation of mesangial cells
PHARMACOLOGICAL EFFECTS - Calcium channel blockers (6)
Diuretic effect: with a single and prolonged administration of nifedipine and verapamil, an increase in the excretion of water and electrolytes after salt loading; Indapamide is a diuretic.
