Define the Enteral route
- directly into digestive tract

- avoids digestive tract
Define bioavailability
Refers to the amount of drug that enters the systemic circulation in an unchanged form
Define first pass metabolism
- when a drug passes through the liver it can be metabolized into an inactive form
Define Therpeutic agent
It treats the symptoms, not the underlying issue. (Ex. tylenol for muscle aches when you have pneumonia)
Define chemotherapeutic agent
it treats the problem (ex. antibiotics for a pneumonia?
Define sensitivity
A dose related effect often exacerbating the therpeutic effect
Define side effect
A reaction not related to a drug therpeutic effect
What is the difference between topical and transdermal?
