- Pts w/ acquired deficiencies
due to liver disease, undergoing cardiac surgery, liver transplant
or on anticoags - Plasma exchange in pts w/ TTP

Platelets contribute their hemostatic capacity via adhesion, activation and aggregation
Platelets: Contraindications
- Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP)
- Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS)
- Heparin induced thrombocytopenia (HIT)
Packed Red Blood Cells: Uses
- Insufficient Tissue Oxygen Delivery Due to Active Bleeding
- Symptomatic Anemia
Packed Red Blood Cells: MOA
- Incr blood oxygen carrying capacity.
- Restores intravascular volume in acute active bleeding
- Improves platelet function in pts w/ uremic bleeding.
