Where do EEF’s originate?
EEFs originate from the environment outside of the project and often outside of the enterprise.
What does EEF stand for
Enterprise Environment Factors
What does EEF include?
include all policies, practices, procedures, and legislation that exist both inside and outside of the organization that will impact the way you manage a project.
where can I find a sample of the Organizational structure types

PMO
Project management office, Program management office, Portfolio management office
Do PMO (Project Management Office) support project managers in a variety of ways?
yes
PMO is to support project managers in 6 ways
Managing shared resourcesacross all projects administered by the PMO;
2.Identifying and developing project management methodology, best practices, and standards;
3.Coaching, mentoring, training, and oversight;
4.Monitoring compliance with project management standards, policies, procedures, and templates by means of project audits;
5.Developing and managing project policies, procedures, templates, and other shared documentation (organizational process assets); and
6.Coordinatingcommunication across projects.
Project Management Office: PMO types in organizations how many?
3
What are the 3 PMO (Project Management Office) types
Supportive, Controlling Directive
Supportive PMOs
provide a consultative role to projects by supplying templates, best practices, training, access to information, and lessons learned from other projects. This type of PMO serves as a project repository.
Supportive PMOs what degree of control
The degree of control provided by the PMO is low.
Controlling PMO (Project Management Office)
Controlling PMOs provide support and require compliance through various means.
Controlling PMO what degree of control
The degree of control provided by the PMO is moderate
Directive PMO (Project Management Office)
Directive PMOs take control of the projects by directly managing the projects. Project managers are assigned by and report to the PMO.
Directive PMO what degree of control
The degree of control provided by the PMO is high.
PMO type: Supportive Example
Provides the process documents and templates for your project. Provides a knowledge base of common project problems and lessons learned for you to use. When you sit down to do your risk planning, you go to them to find a good example of a risk plan that is useful.
PMO type: Controlling Example
You meet with them once a month to go over project documents and make sure you’re following the right process. When a project gets started, the group makes sure that they’ve followed all of the initiating processes and have the right approach. This team audits your project work at regular intervals to confirm the status reports you’re giving and guide you when you need them.
PMO type: Directive Example
A centralized group of project managers who are assigned to manage projects.
Type of PMO: Directive
manages All projects through the organization
Type of PMO: Controlling
Provides support and guidance requires all projects within the organization to use designated project management software templates but doesn’t otherwise exert control over the project
Type of PMO: Controlling or directive
Coordinates all projects within the organization
Type of PMO: Supportive
Recommends common terminology templates reporting and procedures to be used on projects throughout the organization to promote consistency and streamline efforts
Type of PMO: Directive
appoints project manager
Type of PMO: Controlling or Directive
prioritizes projects
Type of PMO: Directive
has the highest level of control over projects
Assumption log
the assumption log is a repository of both assumptions and constraint’s
when is an assumption log started?
at the time the project charter is developed.
assumptions and constraints are first identified at what level
at a high level in the business case and project charter.
Will the assumption and constraints receive further attention
yes as the project progresses
Is an assumtion log an input or an output
the assumpption log is an input to many project processes and assunmption log updates are a frequent output
what your managers and stakeholders beleive to be true about the project is an
assumption are comparable to expectations as thry are not entirely based in fact
do stakeholders not realize that they are making assumptions sometimes that are not articulated?
whe communicating their requirements may not realize that they assumed something that wasnt universally understood
What hapopens to a project that has incorrect assumptions?
risks are introduced to the project soassumotions must be handled by the project manager
Thje assumption log to processe planning has frequent what?
inputs
Constraints
limits the options during planning and beyond
Examples of constraints
schedule, cost ,risk, scope, resources, quality and customer satisfaction
the date a milestone deliverable is due,the date by which the project must be completed and the maximum allowable risk a project is allowed to have are all what?
constraints
not part of the Enterprise Environmental Factors (EEF)
Change log template
Which is not a part of internal EEFs?
Benchmarking results
Pre-approved list of suppliers is part of
Processes, Policies and Procedures
Who manages the project budget in a weak matrix organization?
Functional Manager.
Which type of organization provides complete authority to a Project Manager?
Project oriented
does not support full time Project Management Administrative staff
Functional
How work groups are arranged in a Functional Type of organizations?
By job being done
which type of organizations, a project manager can be assigned as a full time designated role for performing the project activities?
Strong Matrix
Which type of PMO provides a consultative role by supplying templates, best practices and training?
Supportive
The project manager are assigned by this type of PMO and they report to PMO.
