Q

According to Evans, what do TNCs lead to?

A

Disarticulation and exclusion of the masses:

  • capital-intensive technologies in modern sector -> exclusion of the masses of the periphery
  • not simply profit-making capitalist firms:
    • > remove control over production
    • > extend alienation across political borders
  • reinforce disarticulation:
    • > develop infrastructure that only benefits them
    • > keep knowledge and tech in center
    • > products aimed at dependent elites
