A
The stable form of behavior that people display in any and every situation.
Traits are inferred from our behavior.
We expect people to behave in similar ways in different circumstances
Traits can be used to predict future behavior

McCrae and Costa (1999)
A
- Believed there were 5 dimensions of personality
1. Openness (to experience)
2. Conscientiousness
3. Extroversion
4. Agreeable
5. Neuroticism - Each of these theories are trying to explain and describe possible combinations of characteristics and how they predict behavior
- High level of agreement that they describe personality well
- Supported by longitudinal studies
- Considered universally relevant

Humanism
A
- A psychological perspective that emphasizes the study of the whole person
- Looks at human behavior through the eyes of the observer and the eyes of the person doing the behavior
- Both Rogers and Maslow regard personal growth and fulfillment in life as a basic human motive
- Each person seeks to grow psychologically and continuously enhance themselves
- -> self-actualization
- Psychological growth, fulfillment and satisfaction in life
- -> self-actualization
