Paranoid PD
Suspicious and mistrustful - believe that everyone is out to get them
Often hostile, irritable or angry
High prevalence in armed forces
High propensity to develop psychosis
Schizoid PD
‘Space cadet’ - aloof and vague
Lives an isolated lifestyle
Schizotypal PD
Connections with ‘magical thinking’ and reliance on superstition to resolve conflict
Appear strange to others; multiple oddities

Self-centred
Similar to narcissism but less body-oriented
Gets bored easily so jumps from thing to thing, very attention seeking

Person is hyper-dramatic and extraordinarily seductive but frigid and immature

Obsessed with body and image
Explode easily over nothing if they are crossed
Pervasive pattern of grandiosity and over-concern with issues of self-esteem.
Attracted to solo/powerful positions

Antisocial PD
Maladaptive behaviour where the patient doesn’t recognise the rights or feelings of others
Incapacity to feel guilt
Blames others
Very high prevalence in jails
Borderline PD
Patient fluctuates between psychosis and reality
Self-harm - acting out
~50% will suicide
Strongly associated with young sexual abuse

Unstable and intense relationships are very common
Avoidant PD
Shy or timid personality
Hates to confront or discuss conflict
Easily hurt and sensitive to rejection
Socially withdrawn but desires social involvement
Dependant PD
F>M
Sense of self but is submissive - always does what others want
Lacks self-confidence and intolerant of being alone
Passive, with difficulty with disagreement
Obsessive Compulsive PD
Perfectionism, orderliness and inflexibility
Procrastination over minute details
Sexual dysfunction common
Passive-Aggressive PD
Not social, very anxious, self-blaming and introverted
Likes to get along with others but cannot cope with anger. Deep seeded anger is communicated by “forgetting” or “omitting” things to harm others

Precursor for antisocial disorder (Antisocial PD in kids)
