“AVOID”
Anhedonic (little pleasure in activities)
Voluntary social withdrawal (prefers to be alone)
Odd-appearing or eccentric
Introvert (hermit-like behavior)
Detached (flat, cold affect)
What is the management of Schizoid Personality Disorder?
-Psychotherapy
-Can do short-term low dose antipsychotics, antidepressants or psychostimulants
What is Schizotypal Personality Disorder?
Characterized by odd, eccentric, bizarre behavior and thought patterns suggestive of schizophrenia without psychosis (no hallucinations or delusions)
Do most people with Schizotypal Personality Disorder develop schizophrenia?
No, most do not
What are the diagnostic criteria for Schizotypal Personality Disorder?
FIve of the following :
- Ideas of reference, suspicious
- Odd beliefs or magical thinking
- May talk to self in public
- Unusual perceptual experiences
- Inappropriate or restricted affect
- Pervasive discomfort with social relationships
