- Obsession is a recurrent thought
- Compulsion Is a recurrent act (can’t stop)
- Preoccupied with perfectionism, control and orderliness

Must be Reliable!
- Your goal is to build trust (if you say you’ll do something you must do it!)
What are Tx’s for clients with Paranoid Personality Disorder ?
- Be reliable
- Be honest
- have consistent nurses
- Brief visits
- Be matter-of-fact
- Respect personal space
- Be careful with touch
- Don’t mix medications
- May need to eat seal foods
- Restraints (possibly, only if assessed that they are danger to self or others)
In general, when are restraints used?
As a last resort
In NCLEX world what do you want to stay away from as long as possible ?
Restraints and Sedating medications
Why do you want to be careful with touch in client’s with Paranoid Personality Disorder ?
A person experiencing paranoia cannot handle a touchy, feely nurse
How should you give a client with Paranoid Personality Disorder their medications ?
- Dont mix!
- Put in separate cups & always identify meds
