The lasting characteristics that make us who we are; a set of consistent thoughts, feelings and behaviours shown across time in a variety of settings.

What is a personality disorder?
A number of variations of maladaptive personality traits that cause significant psychosocial distress and interfere with everyday functioning, characterised by patterns of thought, behaviour and emotions that differ from what is normally expected by society, leading to difficult relationships, a reduced quality of life and poor physical health.
How can Personality be distinguished from Personality Disorders?
3Ps :-
- Pervasive (Occur in All Aspects of Life).
- Persistent (Evident since childhood).
- Pathological (Cause stress to self/others and impairs function).
What are the three main clusters of personality disorders?
Cluster A ‘Odd or Eccentric’.
Cluster B : ‘Dramatic, Emotional or Erratic’.
Cluster C : ‘Anxious and Fearful’.

- Hypersensitivity and an unforgiving attitude when insulted.

- Preference for Solitary Activities.
- Lack of Interest in Sexual Interactions.
- Emotional Coldness.
