Q

Paragraph 1 - weakness - non scientific methods Example

A

For example, Eysneck gave male prisoners and male controls the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) , once Eysneck got the results -they correlated the results to the criminals as a reason of their criminal behaviours instead of looking at a direct cause that would lead to criminal behaviours.

Q

Paragraph 1 - weakness - non scientific methods Explanation

A

this would lower the validity because as by using self report techniques means participants could give into social desirability bias and this will affect the accuracy of the results. Furthermore, correlating the EPQ results and whether they’re criminal or not, doesn’t equate to causation, so we cannot certainly say whether personality cause the crime to be committed
