Q

The big Five personality test background?

A

Was a result of the hard work of many independent researchers. As early as 1936 and late as 1987 had researchers examining and reducing an original list of 4500 personality traits down to five.

Each trait represents extremely broad categories which cover many personality related terms

Each trait represents a continuum. Individuals can fall anywhere on the continuum for each trait.

The big five personality remains relatively stable throughout one’s lifetimes. Slight changes from childhood to adulthood.

40%-60% of the traits are influenced by genes and environment.
