To practice Jewish customs and because everyone needed to baptized due to everyone needed a savior for salvation, the Jews weren’t saved to the salvation of Jesus. They had to get baptized and realize it wasn’t about their works. They went to temple and priest, they also obeyed the laws. BUT they weren’t saved through Jesus because Jesus wasn’t here. It served as a public declaration that they did something wrong.
