a type of peripheral ideal for digital devices as it wont lose data when turned off and has no moving parts to be damadged.

what is data cable connection and how does it work?
it is the most common form of commection and it is via a USB cable. most mobile phones and media players use it to connect to a computer running the correct software required.
what is bluetooth and how does it work?
it alows devices to communicate wirelessly over a short distance using radio waves.
modern devices have a dongel to allow this (computers printer speakers phones)
what does WIFI stand for

what is wifi and how does it work
it is a form of wireless communication that can be done over larger distances. modern thimgs all have wifi . you can use it to connect toa computer network and the internet. you can als connect wifi enabled peripherals (printer scanners projectors)
what is cloud synchronisation and how does it work?
it allows uers to store data files on a remote server and acess it through a digital device. many devices can be linked to one cloud account, ths menas sychronysing does not have to take place to get the files of all the devices
what are the core fuctions of a mobile phone
make calls on the move and send short SMS text messages
what are the added functions of a phone
mulitfuctional phones have taken over the jobs of other devices such as media players, games consoles and laptops. this is convergence

what is laptop designed for?
designed to fit on the lap it carries out the same functions of a desktop computer but is more compact and is to be carried around.
notebook, what is designed for?
Very similar to a laptop but is even more compact.
The name comes from its small size and is compared to a notebook
what is netbook designed for? and whats the price?
This is similar to the notebook but is mainly for wireless use and emails/ internet/ messaging.
A netbook is usually cheap and a low specification compeered to notebooks and laptops, they have a increased solid state memory.
what is a PDA personal digital assistant
A portable device that is small enough to fit in your palm. It usually contains and address book, telephone, internet and note making features. It also allows some data be exchanged to computers
what is a tablet?
Is a small computer usually with a touch screen or pen enabled interface.
They are bigger thank smart phones and pda’s
