King Acrisius finds out and what does he do?
He is overcome by rage and threatens to kill them
Why doesn’t King Acrisius kill them?
He doesn’t want to be directly responsible so he gets his slaves to lock them in a box and throw them out to sea
Did Danae and her son drown?
No, the Gods took pity on her and let the box float until reaching the Island of Seriphos
What happened to them at the Island?
A kind fishermen named Dictys found them and let them out and took them home to give them shelter
What happened after Dictys looked after them?
Perseus grew up and became handsome and strong. But Dictys cruel brother Polydectes, the King of Seriphos fell in love with Danae
Did Danae love Polydectes?
Polydectes constantly asked Danae to marry him but she didn’t trust him and Perseus hated him
What did Polydectes do after she didn’t marry him?
He thought that if Danae no longer had a son she would marry home so he plotted to get rid of Perseus
What was Polydectes plan
He pretended to get married and when everyone bought him presents Perseus had nothing. Perseus promised to get whatever Polydectes wanted as people were mocking him
What did Polydectes want?
He told Perseus to get the head of Gorgon Medusa who turns u too stone if you look in her eyes
What did Perseus do
Athene helped him and gave him armour and told him to look for The Graeae, three old women to tell him where Medusa was
Did Perseus find Medusa?
Yes after holding the Graeae’s eye for ransom they told him where she was
Did Perseus defeat Medusa
Yes by using a mirror to see where she was but not look at her he killed her
