Scars and feel for AAA
Which pulses would you check
femoral, popliteal, posterior tibial and dorsalis pedis
What five areas do you auscultate in peripheral vascular exam
checking for bruits (SCARF)
Subclavian, Carotid, Aorta, Renal and Femoral
Leg exam for peripheral vascular
Inspect - temperature, discolouration, scars, oedema, hair loss, shiny, varicose veins, ulcers
CRT in toes
Sensation with cotton wool
Power in foot and leg
What other pulses would you check in upper limb
Brachial and ulnar for character and volume
How to perform Buergers
Hold legs up at 45 degrees for 2 minutes - feet should not go pale - angle dependat so less of angle means worse perfusion
Swing legs over sides and look for how they perfuse
What to offer in PV exam
BP both arms then ABPi, foot exam and blood glucose
Present for vascular exam
I performed an examination on person X. There were no sings of peripheral vascular disease, all pulses were normal and examination was normal
