- intermittent claudication
- critical limb ischaemia

what are the features of intermittent claudication?
aching or buring in the leg muscles following walking
* walk for a predictable distance before the symptoms start
* usually relieved within minutes of stopping
* not present at rest
what assessments are conducted in suspected intermittent claudication?
- check femoral, popliteal, posterior tibialis and dorsalis pedis pulses
- ankle brachial pressure index
what is the initial investigation in intermittent claudication?
duplex ultrasound
what investigation needs to be performed prior to any intervention?
