removal of soft tissue, inflamed or untreatable pocket, needs suturing and dressing
gingivoplasty
reshaping of the tissue due to irregular gingival tissue or enlarged tissue
osteoplasty
reshaping of the alveolar bone, due to irregularities in the bone caused by periodontitis, either adding or removing bone
why is perio dressing Important
protect the injured tissue from any trauma during healing, provide comfort and allow tissues to regenerate and heal, prevent infection or bleeding, support mobile teeth during healing

step 1 in dressing removal
dip dressing in water to lose its stickiness
step 2 dressing removal
make2 rolls, one fore the facial and one for the lingual
step 3 dressing removal
irrigate and dry with 2x2
step 1 placing dressing
must extend at lest one tooth on either side of area, should be smoothed
step 2 placing dressing
should be 5-7mm, no further than 2mm form gingival margin, no longer than 1/3 of the clinical crown
what is causing dry socket
when the blood clot did not form after the extraction, leaving nerve endings exposed
dry socket 1
irrigate with saline solution or hydrogen peroxide
dry socket 2
dip iodoform gauze into paste
dry socket 3
gently pack it into the bone with cotton pliers
