Periodisation
Dividing the year into training phases
Aimed at peaking for major competitions
Double periodisation = peak for qualifiers and then major game
Training phases
Preparation Phase - Develop fitness, quantity over quality
Competition Phase - In season, maintenance of fitness and refining skills
Including tapering phases (training intensity decreased)
Transition Phase - Active rest and recovery
Tapering/ Peaking Phase - Preparation for specific competition, mainly skill focused
Training cycles
Macro cycles: long term training plan (yearly/two yearly)
MeSocycle: Blocks of 2-8 weeks working on a Specific aim eg, Speed, Strength, power
Micro cycles: individual training weeks/periods of days/ individual sessions
