Q

What are some properties of metalloids?

A

Is like a mixture of non-metals and metals’ properties: semi conductor, acts as both an insulator AND a conductor

16
Q

Where are protons located? And what are their charges?

A

In the nucleus w/ positive charges

17
Q

Where are neutrons located? And what are their charges?

A

In the nucleus w/ neutral charges

18
Q

Where are electrons located? And what are their charges?

A

Orbiting the nucleus w/ negative charges

19
Q

What is an atomic number?

A

The atomic number indicates how many protons are in the nucleus of an atom.

The # of protons also = the # of electrons EX: Hydrogen’s atomic # is 1, so it has 1 electron and 1 proton

20
Q

What are “atomic mass units” for?

A

Indicating mass on an atomic scale

Protons and neutrons both have a mass of 1 amu while the mass of electrons are even smaller

21
Q

How do you get the # of neutrons in an atom if you have mass # and atomic #?

A

of neutrons = mass # - atomic #
