In 1920 3 things happened
- Height of red scare
- The 19th Amendment grants women suffrage (women were allowed to vote)
- Beginning of Harlem renaissance
Women’s role in the Progressive Era
“New Women” became guardians of homes, joined clubs, founded settlements, and fought for women suffrage and the prohibition of alcohol.
The treaty of Paris in 1898 ceded
Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines for $20 millions. Spain also recognized Cuba’s independence.
TR lounged antitrust action against the—— and secured the passage of the Hepburn Act to regulate the railroads.
