What is perichondritis
A
Infection of the perichondrium (connective tissue layer on ear)

Perichondritis causes
A
Ear piercing, insect bite, trauma

Complication of perichondritis
A
Can lead to chondritis (infection of cartilage)

Perichondritis presentation
A
Painful, swollen, red ear. May also have a fever and fluid may drain from wound.

Perichondritis treatment
A
Antibiotics and if severe may have to drain fluid
