After introducing yourself, ID, explain, consent position and expose, what needs to be done?
Shave hair/degrease patient
Enter pt details into machine
Where do the 10 leads go?
4 limb leads, 6 chest leads
Limbs leads on wrist/ankles
Where do V1 and V2 go?
4th intercostal space, R and L sternal edge
Find angle of louis (2nd intercostal space) and count down
Where do V3 and V4 go?
V4 5th intercostal space, mid clavicular line
V3 inbetween V2 and V4
Where do V5 and V6 go?
Horizontal to V4, anterior and mid axillary line
What do you do after putting the stickers in place?
Attach leads
Ask patient to lie still (sunbathing on a beach)
Capture ECG and print
Write on if pt had chest pain at the time
Disconnect leads and pads and allow patient to dress
Thank patient
Which leads are septal?
V1, V2
Which leads are anterior?
V2, V3, V4
Which leads are lateral?
V5, V6
I, aVL
Which leads are inferior?
II, II, aVF
Which artery has been occluded if there is ST elevation in V2, V3, V4?
Anterior MI so LAD
Which artery has been occluded if there is ST elevation in V5, V6, I and aVL?
Circumflex
Which artery has been occluded if there is ST elevation in II, III and aVF?
