Q

Assuming an inoperative FMS, how much fuel is required to fly to an unplanned diversion airport 100 NM away based off the planned landing weight on the release?

A

CRJ 200 About 1100lbs assuming 250kts average, an fuel burn of about 1200lbs per side, flight roughly 20 min.
CRJ 700 About 1400lbs assuming 250kts. Average, a fuel burn of about 1600lbs per side, flight roughly 20min.

Q

What is Bingo fuel?

A

Plan on landing with reserve fuel listed on release.
It is calculated in three ways. the purpose of Bingo fuel is to land with your reserve fuel intact.
First: holding or delays for a destination airport. Bingo fuel provides you with enough fuel to fly to the destination, fly an instrument approach, go missed, and land at the most distant alternate with an approach. Bingo fuel assumes you are planning to land with your minimum reserve fuel at your most distant alternate. you must leave the hold and proceed to your destination or alternate at Bingo fuel?
Second: Holding or delays for your alternate airport. Bingo fuel assumes you land with your minimum reserve fuel at your most distant alternate, after flying an instrument approach, go missed, and land at the most distant alternate with an approach. You must leave the hold and proceed to your second alternate at Bingo fuel?1
Third: Holding at your alternate or most distant alternate. Once arrived at your final alternate, minimum fuel no longer has to be protected since you have nowhere else to go. In this case bingo fuel is calculated at minimum fuel and then emergency fuel. your goal is to know when you must be out of a hold or delay vector to land with sufficient fuel remaining.
