what happened upon thier arrival in Constantinople
due to poor leadership, they were undisciplined and began to destroy churches and palaces.
Alexios urged Peter to cross the Bosphorus and set up camp in Kibotos
what happened in Kibotos
lacked discipline and began to torture the poeple of Kibotos.
German and Italian knights siezed a castle near Nicea called Xerigordo, they were then besieged by a force of turks under Qilij Arslan, many were slain.
then on 21 oct Qilij Arslan laucnhed a major attack on Kibotos, killing majority of the army.
this was then called the battle of kibotos
why did the peoples crusade fail
lack of supplies so relied on Alexios for supplies
lack of good military so were vulnerable to turkish attacks, unable to defend against superior and better organized turkish army
poor leadership so were not able to keep men disciplined and ravaged hungary and the byzantine empire
