accumulation of fluid in peritoneal cavity

gland in the male anatomy

lying facedown in extreme exhaustion or incapacitiation
sprain
injury of ligament
strain
injury of tendons or muscles (t as in tendon)
stridorous
A patient has stridor, a noise generated in the upper airway/throat when breathing, normally during inspiration when the airways narrow
intractable
stubborn and difficult to manage, often referring to severe bouts of nausea and vomiting
paroxysmal
occurs in sudden, severe, recurring expisodes
Persistent vs chronic
same idea, but persistent refers to a shorter time period than chronic symptoms
Recurrent
Return and resolution of disease in a chronic matter, but of a typically non-chronic condition i.e. pneumonia
OPQRST(A) mneumonic
onset, provocative factors, quality, region / radiation, severity, timing, associated symptoms
pleurisy
inflammation of the pleurae, which impairs their lubricating function and causes pain when breathing.
claudication
a pain or limping caused by low blood flow / oxygen delivery to muscles
pruritus
itching
hemoptysis
coughing up blood
hemorrhoid
a swollen vein or group of veins in the region of the anus
