Pelvic Nerves Flashcards
Ilioinguinal nerve
Branch of L1 ventral ramus that courses through the Inguinal canal and supplies and sensation in the scrotum and external genitalia
Iliohypogastric nerve
Branch of L1 ventral ramus that supplies sensation to the hypogastric region
Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve
Form from L2 and L3 and supply sensation to the thigh
Male genitofemoral nerve
Innervates the cremaster muscle, skin of the scrotum, and cutaneous skin of the thigh
Female Genitofemoral nerve
Innervate external genitalia and cutaneous skin of the thigh
Femoral nerve
Formed from L2 three and four and innervates the quadricep muscles
Obturator nerve
Formed from L2, three, four and innervates the adductor muscles of the leg
Lumbosacral trunk
Formed from L4 and L5 and descends to the sacral plexus
Sciatic nerve
A large nerve form by the union of L4, five and S1, two, three exits greater sciatic foramen
Pudendal nerve
S2, three, four exits greater sciatic foramen and injures the lesser sciatic foramen to innervate the perineum
Superior gluteal nerve
L4, 5 and S1 exits greater sciatic foramen to innervate the hip abductors
Inferior gluteal nerve
L5 S1 and S2 exits greater sciatic foramen to innervates gluteus maximus
Posterior femoral cutaneous nerve
S1, two, three cutaneous nerve innervation to posterior thigh
Lymphatic drainage of the pelvis
Outside: drains to superficial inguinal nodes
inside: drains to internal iliac or aortic nodes
Female inferior hypogastric plexus
Includes:
- vesicle plexus
- Uterovaginal plexus
- rectal plexus
